Auditions are broken up into two parts.
1 - Vocal Auditions

1 - Vocal Auditions:
Students 4-6 grade who would like to be considered for a speaking role or lead role need to do a vocal audition on August 28. Sign up HERE for an audition time. Vocal auditions will take place in groups of 5 in 15-minute blocks.
- pick a song to prepare (those who choose to audition with a song will also be considered for speaking/non singing parts)
- if you are uncomfortable singing, pick a monologue to prepare (those who choose to audition with a monologue will only be considered for speaking parts)
Please note that some of the lead characters in Wizard of Oz can be played by a boy or a girl.
Here are the Song choices. Please prepare one of these:

“Welcome, welcome! Watch your step near the marshmallow ceiling—it sneezes on Thursdays. Ah, I see you’re wondering whether everything here is magical. The answer is: probably. Or possibly dangerous. That’s part of the fun! You know, people think candy making is all sugar and smiles, but true inventing requires imagination… courage… and occasionally a fire extinguisher. Now then, who’s ready to taste invisible bubblegum? Side effects may include hiccups, singing, and turning slightly blue.”
“A kingdom does not simply become perfect on its own. It requires leadership. Vision. Extremely well-groomed hair. Honestly, if people would just do exactly as I say at all times, life would run beautifully. But no! There are singing creatures in the streets, fairy tale chaos everywhere, and someone tracked mud into my castle again. This is why I have rules. Lots and lots of rules. And possibly a dungeon. A very organized dungeon.”
“Children should come with warning labels. Yesterday one of them glued macaroni to my favorite chair and called it ‘art.’ ART! I haven’t sat down properly in three days. And now the mayor is visiting, which means I have to pretend I enjoy smiling. Ugh. Listen, kid, if anybody asks, this place is cheerful, organized, and full of love. Meanwhile, hide the slingshot, wake up the sleeping dog, and somebody spray perfume before I faint from the smell of socks and bad decisions!”
“I do not tolerate laziness, giggling, or tiny people with opinions! When I was your age, I carried tree trunks uphill for breakfast. Barefoot! In the rain! But children today? ‘May I have a snack?’ ‘May I use the restroom?’ Weakness! Absolute weakness! From now on, this classroom will run with discipline, order, and fear! Mostly fear. So straighten your socks, stop blinking so loudly, and prepare yourselves for the toughest day of your miserable little lives!”
2 - Callbacks: On Saturday, August 29, we will hold callbacks at 10 a.m. for lead roles. Those who are being considered for lead roles or speaking parts, will be asked to come back Saturday morning. They will read different lines and sections of the script. These reading selections will be provided to the students ahead of time when notified that they are invited to callbacks.
Callbacks will be announced Friday, August 28 via email.
