We are so excited for Wizard of Oz Jr.!
Registration Forms and Fees or Scholarships (fee waivers) are due the night before auditions - August 27, 2026 by 9 p.m.
All PARTICIPATION fees need to be paid BEFORE the cast list is released on August 30. IF you have not paid your fee or talked to the principal to make arrangements for a fee waiver; your child will not get to participate. If you wish to order a script, those fees will have a later deadline.
REGISTRATION FORMS: The registration form is available online. Please visit https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSecTBcxxnZ99vEiz7BfYR04K8G2xhkYwLdJZVt67VKTXgwyKQ/viewform?usp=header to fill out your registration and secure your child’s spot in the production ASAP.
AUDITIONS: Anyone who wants to be in the musical can automatically be in it. But if a student wants a speaking or singing role, they must be in fourth - sixth grade and need to complete a vocal audition. Students can sign up for a vocal audition time on Signup Genius here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F45ACAD2DA5F49-64079546-wizard
Students will audition in groups of 5 for 15 minutes for the vocal audition. They will need to come prepared to sing one of the short selections from the list here: https://www.columbiamusical.com/auditions
There are several parts that do not require strong singers or singers at all. We want you to know that every single one of you will play a special part in this production!
There will also be callbacks for auditions. Those who are being considered for lead roles or speaking parts, will be asked to come back Saturday morning. They will read different lines and sections of the script. These reading selections will be provided to the students ahead of time when notified that they are invited to callbacks.
FEES: All fees will be paid through Givebacks at: https://columbia-voy.givebacks.com/store
$50 registration/participation fee **
** If you feel this is too much for you to afford, we gladly offer confidential scholarships or fee waivers. You simply need to reach out to Mr. Mudrow, our Principal, and he will add your child to the PAID list. We do not want the fees to be the reason your child does not participate! We want EVERY child that wants to participate to have the chance!
$15 Script fee. This year we are providing a script free of cost to those who have speaking lines in the show. Anyone else who wishes to order an official script can do so for $15 (digital copies will be accessible to everyone).
$20 For Stage Crew Participants ONLY----This fee will include your Stage Crew T-shirt
This year we are excited to be able to provide a Wizard of Oz t-shirt to each student cast member free of cost. We will order these based on the t-shirt size you list for your student on their audition registration.
VOLUNTEERING: All parents will be expected to volunteer! PERIOD! This show can not run without the help of EVERYONE. Volunteers will need to have a district background check completed as well. This can be taken care of at the district offices in Farmington. We need to be very strict on who is in the building at any given time. We understand that there will be those of you who have work conflicts; we will be able to find a way for you to contribute (These special circumstances need to be approved by the Production Team ASAP). If there is something not listed that you think would be helpful please let us know. All parents are expected to help during our Set-Build day and during the run of the show. Set build day will be held Saturday, October 24 at 10 a.m. Put it on your calendar NOW. Many hands make light work and we couldn’t do this without help.
5th and 6th GRADE STAGE CREW: We know there are students who are nervous about being on stage but still want to participate; this is the option for them! Duties of a Stage Crew include, but not limited to: help the production team by taking roll, or taking notes, constructing props, painting set pieces, helping with the props backstage, working spotlights at the back of the gym and moving props and set pieces during performances. You will receive a special Stage Crew T-Shirt that will be worn at all performances. These spots are limited in number. Depending on how many kids we get signed up and our capacity numbers; we will contact you if you have been selected. This will also be first-come first-served. You will only need to fill out the registration form listed under STAGE CREW.
You can find that form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UOnogWw-IoPUQ9Is3q3t32gPn1fDPtXJBNcJXt5YeOE/edit
Understand that this is like a job. Students will not be allowed to disrupt rehearsals and use this time to hang out with cast members. IF we do not know your child; we will be contacting their teachers from last year for a referral.
TICKETS: Tickets will be $5 and can purchased through an outside vendor website when we get closer to performance time. A link will be given at a later date.
ATTENDANCE: Your child will be expected to be at EVERY rehearsal & ON TIME when they are called. If your child has a prior conflict; make sure you have marked those spots on the registration form; we will take that into account when assigning their roles and performance times. Any absences not previously approved may result in their role being given away. We understand that this may seem harsh; but absences that we are not prepared for negatively affect the entire cast for that day. We want you to understand that we need your child. In the event that a child ends up being sick and unable to participate; we will be asking the other cast with the same character to fill in for those performances. We hope that this does not happen; but we need to be prepared.
We CANNOT allow children to participate who have regular morning commitments (with the exception of the Columbia Orchestra, Student Council and Hope Squad).
Each child will also be required to attend all Dress Rehearsals and Performances for their cast. We will not allow any switching of performances. If you know you already have a conflict for all those required dates; this may not be for you this year.
Cast Lists are Final. Switching will not be allowed; no exceptions.
We also CANNOT allow children to participate in a performance if they do not attend school that day. We value education and want our musical students to know that going to class is top priority.

IMPORTANT RULES/INFORMATION
CHECK OUR WEBSITE/REMIND TEXTS EVERYDAY!!
Schedules will be emailed out weekly. A REMIND text will also be sent out with a link to the schedule. They will be sent out on Saturdays, or Sundays at the latest. Remember we are all volunteers and the schedule changes weekly.
Important information or last minute changes will be sent out through the REMIND text messaging app.
Rehearsals will start on time. It is very important that your child is there; well fed and ready to go!
Cell Phones are not allowed at Rehearsals. Please remind your students to keep them in their backpacks.
Behavior Policy - If your child, including those students on stage crew, are unwilling to listen or obey rules during rehearsals, you will be asked to chaperone at all rehearsals.
If your student plans on eating breakfast at the school, they will be asked to wait until a break in rehearsal to get in line and start eating.
Attitude is EVERYTHING! Please help your child be excited about the part they receive. We will have a double cast to give more opportunities for the kids to shine. We try our best to make every child feel special and shine in some way. We need every one of them to pull off a great show!
Memorization is KEY. If your child receives a speaking part, we ask that you work with your child on their lines every night until memorized. We will check progress at rehearsals and notify you of any concerns.
IF there are any concerns/issues; you may contact the production team in person or through email. We cannot solve a problem that we are unaware of.
BE KIND and PATIENT and expect the unexpected. We are ALL Volunteers!
